Pearls lose their luster when in constant contact with sweat. To preserve the luster, rinse pearls with cool water and dry off with a soft cloth.  Never submerge the pearls into any sort of cleaner as this too will strip the pearl of its natural layers and possibly disintergrate the pearl.  The best way is to use NON-TARNISH strips and place them with your silver jewelry.  These strips prolong the time of tarnishing to your silver.  Also, use a soft silver-polish cloth to hand clean silver parts.

If you decide to use a liquid cleaner, hang the pearl outside of the liquid and submerge only the silver parts.

Be careful about the liquid silver cleaners which ask you to immerse the jewelry in the solvent. Some of these weaken the silver as they clean by removing a layer of the silver. Also, avoid polishing pearls with the silver-polish cloth as the polish will lessen the pearl’s lustre.
